Empowering Educators to Build Emotionally Healthy Classrooms

Kids Have Stress Too! (KHST) for Grades 1-3 empowers elementary school educators and child-serving professionals with effective strategies to build an emotionally healthy classroom environment by promoting self-regulation and age-appropriate stress-management strategies.

By Implementing the KHST! Grades 1-3 program, you will help kids to:

  • Recognize and manage stress while equipping educators with a deeper understanding of its impact across developmental stages.
  • Learn practical, effective stress-management techniques that help them recognize and manage their stress.
  • Foster self-regulation to support positive classroom behaviour and emotional resilience.
  • Create a calm, structured environment that promotes well-being and academic success.

The Grades 1-3 program is built around four main units:

  1. Understanding stress (Activity 1-2).
  2. Calming the body (Activities 3-7).
  3. Understanding and managing feelings (Activities 8-10).
  4. Thinking skills to cope with stress and promote resilience (Activities 11-16).

Featuring 16 skill-based activities that:

  • Help students understand stress and its impact on health and learning.
  • Teach students practical techniques for coping with stress and promoting resilience.
  • Show students how to address the signs of stress before they get overwhelmed by them.
  • Ranging from 5 to 50 minutes in length, each activity can easily be woven into a teacher’s existing curriculum.
