The Taking Care of You(th) program provides youth with the skills and knowledge they need to navigate stress in healthy, constructive ways, promoting emotional resilience and fostering a sense of empowerment.

Taking Care of You(th) is a one-time, 2-hour workshop designed to help young people (ages 12-18) understand, reflect on, and manage their stress. Through interactive discussions, self-reflections, and stress management activities, the session encourages youth to explore the nature of stress, recognize their own stressors, and learn practical strategies to cope effectively. The goal is to equip young people with the tools they need to handle stress in healthy ways, promoting overall well-being and resilience.

In Taking Care of You(th), young people will learn how to:

✔ Recognize the signs of stress in themselves and others
✔ Understand different types of stress and their causes
✔ Practice effective coping strategies to reduce and manage stress
✔ Create a personalized stress management plan for daily life

Key Learning Objectives

1. Understand Stress: Young people will gain a clear understanding of what stress is; how it affects their mind, body, emotions, and behaviour; why it’s a natural response to challenges; and the difference between healthy and unhealthy stress.
2. Recognize Personal Experiences of Stress: Young people will reflect on their own experiences of stress, identifying common stressors and understanding the impact of stress on their emotions, thoughts, body, and behaviors.
3. Stress Management Strategies: Young people will learn and practice practical strategies for managing stress, including mindfulness techniques, relaxation exercises, time management, physical activity, and positive self-talk.
